Celebrate the roots, richness and variety of Alabama culture at the Leeds Downtown Folk Festival and John Henry Celebration Sept. 18-19., 2010. This fun-filled, family-friendly festival will once again feature juried art, storytelling, live folk music, children's crafts, folk art demonstrations, and regional and ethnic food. Special events at this third-annual festival will include "Listen to that Cold Steel Ring," a locally written and produced play about John Henry,"the steel-driving man," tours of antique railroad exhibits at Leeds Historic Depot and an antique car show.

Leeds is located just 15 minutes from downtown Birmingham. Admission and parking are free. Saturday 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday noon-6 p.m. For information call 699-1892.
